Is it possible to think your way out of an anxiety loop where you're checking and checking and checking to see if something is true?
Not always—OCD is a monstrous illness
But—sometimes it is possible
Sometimes you can limit your checking to a certain rate. For instance, something you've been checking every few seconds you can maybe check only once a minute. Or something you've been doing once every few minutes, you can do just once a day
Or you can become a statistician, and say: this thing I've checked 10 times in the last hour, has been true every time—so what are the chances it'll be anything but true the next time I look?
In addition to some lighthearted laughter, these are two methods I use when I realize my OCD checking has gotten out of control
